+ Soul Survivor Momentum 2007 Review

Momentum is Soul Survivor for old young people! Students and 20's. 14 of us went this year along with a couple of day visitors appearing as well! So i thought i would write a short review of the week!!

We got there on Friday 20th July after a pretty decent drive down in the pouring rain! Then we had to put up the kitchen tent, the boys and girls tent and then two small tents! By the end of it we were soaked!  I had to buy new shoes because my shoes had no chance of drying out while i was there!

Once the tents were up and we were all settled it was time for dinner, actually for a load of young people the food was pretty good all week, i thought at least!!

Each day there were 2 main meetings with some fantastic worship times and really good teaching as well. The whole theme for the week was "The Suffering and The Glory" so the talks were based on and around that!

Speakers inlcuded Mike Pilavachi, J John, David Ruis, David Parker, Andy Croft and a lady from Canada that spoke loads of sense all about hearing from God and our responses, being open with what God says and more...but terribley i can't remember her name!!

As well as the main meetings there were a wide range of seminars throughout the day, i went to:

  1. The Trinity - Frog and Amy Orr-Ewing
  2. God of Love, God of Judgement - Michael Ramsden
  3. Growing in Leadership - Paul Watson
  4. Questions Questions - Michael Ramsden

I have already typed up some notes on this, beginning with a comment abuot relationships taken from the Questions Questions seminar with Michael Ramsden. I will probably type up a load more at some point for those that are interested!

All in all it was a really great week, loads of brilliant teaching and nice to be able to spend loads of time focussed on God!

If you want to know more about Soul Survivor then check out the Soul Survivor Website, or the Momentum Website for information abuot Momentum.

Michael Ramsden and Amy Orr-Ewing work for The Zacharias Trust and are both excellent at answering some of the really difficult questions Christians and Non-Christians have about Christianity, their Resources Area has loads of information both to read and to listen to if you are interested! Listen to: A world of suffering, is life worth living? or Have a Read of: Don't all religions lead to God? Just a few that stood out to me when looking through!

If anyone else wants to comment about the week please do!

+ Christian & Non-Christian Relationships

Hey all,

As some of you will know last week i was at Soul Survivors MOMENTUM! Which was fantastic.  While i was there i went to a couple of seminars by Michael Ramsden, one of which was a Question and Answer session!

A question that he answered that is one of the questions that i get asked the most was:  "Is it ok to go out with a non Christian?"

I have my own responses to this and the Question and Answers section on this site has other peoples responses too! But he said something which i thought was excellent!

In response Michael responded along the lines: We should marry someone because of who they are and not what we want them to be!

Therefore, we shouldn't go out/marry someone based on "converting" them to Christianity! But instead we should love them and marry them for who they are!

So putting Michael's response with what it says in the bible about being yolked with non-believers...i would say that should comfortably answer the question!  Let me know your thoughts!

+ Magny-Cours French F1 GP

Apparently the last race at this french circuit! Talks of a French GP in Paris, that could be quite cool!

The two Ferrari's made a good start, i have to say i was expecting a little more from Hamilton at the start but there we go.  Alonso made a good start gaining 3 places straight away but the speed of Heidfelds BMW was impressive! What was more impressive was the manoeuvre that Alonso pulled of to get past Heidfeld! Shame he lost it again later on during the pit stops.

Both Mclarens came in early for their pitstop, i wonder if that was planned of if they altered the strategy based on the start of the race! The 3 stop strategy didn't really work for Hamilton though.

The changes that the Ferrari team have made to their cars are impressive, it has given Massa that extra that he needed as he has been driving well all season but it was Raikkonen who has really gained from this progress by Ferrari who hasn't had the best season goes and wins the race!

Fantastic bit of driving after Hamilton's 2nd Pit Stop as he came out of the Pit Lane and raced for position against Kubica! And then he goes and sets a fastest lap straight from the pits!

Credit to Kubica, he comes 4th in his frist race back after that terrifying crash a couple of races ago.

It was good to see another british driver Button in the Honda in the points and finishing the race!

So it wasn't Mclaren's day today and it looks like the Ferrari's are back and ready to challenge for the title, so Mclaren have got to pull their finger out if Hamilton is to continue this exciting first season in F1!

Standings for French GP 2007:

  1. Kimi Raikkonen
  2. Felipe Massa
  3. Lewis Hamilton
  4. Robert Kubica
  5. Nick Heidfeld
  6. Giancarlo Fisichella
  7. Fernando Alonso
  8. Jenson Button

Well that is it for the French GP, next week July 8th we have the British GP at Silverstone! Time for Hamilton to shine on home soil!!
